The Latin word forma was used to name our firm. We feel it properly defines and reflects our approach to framing:

Transf., (1) form, manner, type: forma rerum publicarum, Cic.; in formam proviciae redigere, Liv.; forma insolitae pungnae, Liv.; in logic, species: Cic. (2) form as briefly indicated, outline, general notion: totius negotii, Cic.
Forma was founded in the fine art and antique graphic market with over 25 years of experience in archival framing. Our principles are as a professional trustworthy supplier who carries an extensive inventory of wood mouldings and archival products providing us with the opportunity to offer immediate service. Our investment insures that we are not dependent on the whims and abilities of third party suppliers with long delays in receiving appropriate mouldings or supplies. Forma does not believe its duty is to rack up the largest possible cost to its clients in over-framing items that are of only decorative value. Rather, Forma is committed to period and respectful framing, at costs that bear a relationship to the value of the item being framed. Forma's commitment is to archival period framing.
The history of framing styles and approaches is a major interest and concern to Forma. We believe that when possible alients should do period framing. We stock antique and historic Canadian master picture frames. We have a major commitment to researching and gaining knowledge on the development of framing in Canada.
The staff of Forma is trained in the master craftsmanship of guilding & hand finishing raw moulding with an extensive inventory of different finishes for these raw mouldings. Forma is committed to the appropriate design of mats, including French washed & other mat treatments.
